SGNL + Rundown.com & GAP

Last month I was fortunate enough to be one of five artist in the country chosen to re-interpret the denim jacket. I was honored to be in the company of such artists as: Matt Siren (Queens, NY), Philip Iosca (Portland, Oregon), Steven and William Ladd (Brooklyn, NY) and  John Garrett (Albuquerque, New Mexico).

The contest hosted by Rundown.com , coincides with the launch of GAP’s impressive new “denim stream” which features articles, trends and style tips from all over the web about all things denim. Each artist was provided with a GAP jacket, a small materials budget and nothing else. It was nice to have complete creative control over the project. It was also a bit overwhelming. How does one put his own spin on an American icon? My concept was “American work-wear meets motorcycle jacket (two things I am obsessed with). I searched for unique vintage pieces and added some taxidermy (for good measure). I also used a Carhart overall for the different panels on the jacket. I was very happy with the result and have to thank my friends at Ace Tailors for their help achieving the final product.

The best part? You can log on to Rundown.com and vote to win one the jackets (I trust you will be voting for mine of course). Below are some detailed photos of my jacket. Go vote and good luck! I would love to see one of my friends wearing the jacket. Thanks for your support.
